ELF, a sponsor of major racing teams

TOTAL and ELF are both sponsors in the racing world.
TOTAL sponsors the Citroën and Peugeot racing teams in the French Rally Championships and international racing championships (WRC). It is also involved in a large number of promotion activities for motor sports.
In partnership with Renault, ELF has won 15 F1 World championships and totalled more than 100 wins

Formula 1: ELF sponsors the Renault F1 Team

It is no coincidence that Renault and Elf have signed a new agreement, thirty-five years after laying the foundations of a successful partnership. Since 1968, success has followed success, but the greatest technological, commercial and sporting achievements are still to come. Our common values - audacity, innovation and leading edge technology – enable us to confront difficult, stimulating challenges – the first of which is Formula 1, where winning back the world championship title is the main goal.

Elf not only sponsors the Renault F1 Team: it is one of their main suppliers. For many years, Elf has continued to formulate custom products for Renault and has two research and development teams working on projects for the French car-maker. One is based at the Solaize Research Centre (CRES) while the other works full-time on the race tracks, for both Grand Prix and private trials. These team members rely on extremely detailed studies and real time analyses.

The aim is to continuously optimise the engineering solutions chosen by Renault and Elf. This is the path they must follow on the way back to success.

The Le Mans Séries: Peugeot 908 V12 HDI FAP

TOTAL and Peugeot have renewed their partnership, which began in 1995, until December 2010.

In 2006, the two companies took part in many national races and demonstrated their ability to innovate to assure the success of the end customer.

In 2007, Peugeot and Total took part in all the races in the Le Mans Series, especially the Le Mans 24 Hours, with a new car fitted with an HDi engine and a particulate filter, a racing system that called for a new generation of special lubricants.

WRC: TOTAL sponsors the Citroën team

The Total Group has long been a sponsor of the Citroën team but it also sponsored Peugeot from 2001 to 2005. The French oil company therefore accompanied these French teams during their historic successes in the early 2000s to the top of the rally podiums: 9 World Champion Manufacturer and Driver titles.
